IBIDEN Korea Co., Ltd. was established in 2000 by IBIDEN Co., Ltd. which is a Japanese company, and has started to do business of Electronics & Ceramic products in Korea since 2001. Mother company, IBIDEN Co., Ltd. has 100% equity of IBIDEN Korea’s stock and the following is a brief introduction of IBIDEN Co., Ltd.
IBIDEN Co., Ltd. is a Japanese company with more than 100 years history. The IBIDEN Group consists of 37 subsidiaries and 3 affiliates.
IBIDEN Group is managing businesses centering around electronics and ceramics. In the electronics business, the company designs and manufactures IC packages and printed-wiring boards that are used for personal computers and smart phones as well as contributing to the development of tele-communication equipment which the world is expecting.
In the ceramics business, IBIDEN produces Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) that purifies the exhaust gas of diesel cars, and also produces graphite specialty products used for semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing devices. 2. Why did you invested in Korea?
To have a business of our products such as IC packaging substrates, DPF and so on with Korean customers directly, not through agents.
3. Evaluate Korea’s Global Competitiveness and investment environment compared to other Asia countries
A semiconductor and automotive industry of Korean companies which are the main customers doing business with IBIDEN Korea, has a strong competitiveness with excellent manpower and global supply chain. They have much of market share in the worldwide market with such differentiated competitiveness.
4. What support do you want from the Korean government? Also, what is the obstacle of investment activities and business activities?
Most of foreign companies which want to invest in Korea, want less investment risks after their investment to Korea. So, I want Korean government to keep stable policy and direction in economic and industry aspect, considering their purposes of investment to Korea.
5. What is the reason for a multinational’s success in Korea?
Let them have a various incentives and merits worth of investing and doing business in Korea. If so, many of foreign companies would rush to invest to Korea.
6. What are your management plans in 2017?
My first target in this year is to make IBIDEN a strategic partner of our Korean customers and share future technology and business together to have win-win relationship.
And then, I hope Korean market would be the most attractive overseas market for IBIDEN Co., Ltd.
